ByteDance launches Doubao Seed 2.1 models for coding and agent tasks

ByteDance has quietly launched the Doubao Seed 2.1 series on Volcano Engine, including Pro and Turbo versions, plus an updated Seed-Evolving model. The series is built for coding and agent tasks, with strong planning and self-fixing abilities.

The Seed 2.1 series improves in three areas: coding delivery, long-chain agent tasks, and multimodal understanding. The Pro version handles complex tasks, while the Turbo version is cheaper and designed for large-scale use. There's also a character model Seed-Character for role-play and multimodal understanding.

Pricing: Seed 2.1 Pro costs 6 RMB per million tokens for input, Turbo costs 3 RMB, with cache hits reducing costs significantly. The Seed-Evolving model updates at least once a week for continuous improvement.
