Recently, Ding Hong, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated that the development of artificial intelligence is bringing the 'second leap of Earth's wisdom'. He pointed out that the time window for frontier fields such as AI, quantum computing, and controlled nuclear fusion is urgent; missing it may widen gaps, and major breakthroughs in these fields will bring civilization-level changes. Ding Hong mentioned that China's technological development is showing 'super acceleration', with the number of valid AI patents ranking among global leaders, and key core technology patents laid out in future industries like quantum technology. Additionally, China will strengthen legislative research in the AI field this year. He also joked that the spirit of scientists is not to be ascetics—science is actually very interesting.
