ChatGPT lets you lock chats with a PIN
OpenAI has launched a "locked chats" feature for ChatGPT. Users can now protect sensitive conversations with a four-digit PIN, or use Face ID and Touch ID on supported devices to keep private chats away from prying eyes.
Unlike temporary chats, locked chats can be reviewed anytime. They move to a separate section, kept apart from normal chats, pinned chats and search results. If memory is on, this section gets its own memory space, so new info stays inside and won't leak into normal chats.
OpenAI notes the feature doesn't use end-to-end encryption, doesn't change how long data is kept, and doesn't erase what ChatGPT already remembers. Resetting the PIN permanently deletes all locked content. Temporary, archived and group chats can't be locked.
The feature is available to Free, Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users, but not for medical ChatGPT, and it's rolling out in batches.
