ChatGPT's Chrome extension can now read your open tabs

OpenAI has upgraded its ChatGPT extension for Chrome. The AI can now read the tabs you have open and give more relevant answers. OpenAI once launched its own browser but shut it down in August, and has been improving the Chrome extension since then.

In chat mode, you can ask ChatGPT to look at your open pages and answer questions, like comparing sofa sizes, prices, and return policies across tabs. For bigger tasks, ChatGPT Work can send messages, fill out forms, or organize tabs — such as filling a dentist's form and adding it to your calendar, or drafting an email after comparing contractors' terms.

The ChatGPT sidebar in Chrome can also access all your chat history, so you can keep chatting or set up tasks without leaving the page. The extension is available on all plans and works on other Chromium browsers like Edge, Brave, and Opera.
