China launches AI token service working group to build high-quality token system
The China Artificial Intelligence Industry Development Alliance (AIIA) officially started setting up a working group for token services on June 25. Led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), it joins 22 companies including Huawei Cloud, Baidu Smart Cloud, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom. They are now inviting more organizations to join.
The group aims to solve problems in AI services like poor performance, weak security, and unclear pricing. It will build standards for the whole token lifecycle—from production to billing—and launch a "Token Service Capability Climbing Plan" with regular monitoring reports.
For industry use, the group will work with finance, healthcare, and government sectors to set up token service baselines. It will also push for homegrown token tech, focusing on domestic AI models, computing power, and development frameworks. Other tasks include creating safety rules, enabling cross-border data flow, and building a green token ecosystem to make services more efficient, stable, and affordable.
