China launches AI + transportation action plan with over 100 pilot projects
China's Ministry of Transport has released an action plan for AI in transportation, focusing on ten areas like self-driving, smart highways, and intelligent shipping. It plans over 100 pilot projects and aims to gather more than 1,000 innovators. The first batch includes 41 key scenarios, such as road traffic monitoring, set to launch this year. The plan follows a path from tech breakthroughs to industrial use, targeting 2030 for high-value applications and new infrastructure. Tasks are split into three types: promoting proven tech, demonstrating integrated solutions, and developing core technologies. Next steps include building an innovation database, encouraging local pilots, and setting standards.
