China Mobile sets up Token Office to streamline AI development

China Mobile has set up a Token Office, led directly by top executives, with the head of its strategy department as deputy director. The office is higher-level than the previous computing unit, aiming to connect the entire process of creating, delivering, and using tokens, breaking down silos between departments.

Earlier this year, China Mobile launched token packages starting at 5 yuan per month, usable in AI apps. At MWC26 Shanghai, chairman Chen Zhongyue unveiled a vision to expand from mobile communication to mobile computing and mobile AI, exploring AI phones, smart glasses, and humanoid robots.
