China released national AI device grading standard, first test results out
Chinese government departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology jointly released a national standard called 'AI Terminal Intelligence Grading' (GB/Z 177-2026). It ranks devices from L1 to L4, with L4 to be detailed later.
The AI Terminal Working Group announced the first batch of test results, covering phones, computers, TVs, glasses, car cockpits, speakers, and earphones. Products from Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, Honor, TCL, Hisense, Geely, GAC, Baidu's Xiaodu, Liangliang Shijie, and iFlytek got L3 or L2 ratings.
The standard helps consumers choose smart devices and pushes tech upgrades. L3 devices can sense surroundings and help with decisions, while L2 only follows simple commands.
