China's Daily Token Calls Surpass 140 Trillion in March, Growing Over 1000x in Two Years

Liu Liehong, head of China's National Data Bureau, stated at the 2026 China Development High-Level Forum that tokens, as value anchors and settlement units in the intelligent era, provide quantifiable possibilities for business model implementation.

In early 2024, China's daily token calls were 100 billion; by the end of 2025, it jumped to 100 trillion; in March this year, it exceeded 140 trillion, growing over 1000 times in two years. Some model enterprises achieved revenue in 20 days that exceeded their total annual revenue in 2025.

The billing logic around tokens is evolving rapidly, becoming an important path for AI industry monetization. It also reflects China's progress in data element reform and the formation of a high-quality data supply system.
