China's securities regulator vows to crack down on AI misuse, expand support for AI models on STAR Market
Wu Qing, head of China's securities regulator, said at the 2026 Lujiazui Forum that authorities will strictly investigate illegal activities like hyping up tech trends and market manipulation. They plan to release guidelines for AI in capital markets and crack down on illegal stock recommendations, fake news, and fraudulent trading using AI.
Wu also announced that the STAR Market will expand its fifth set of listing standards to include AI large model companies, aiming to deepen reforms and support new consumption and modern services. Currently, tech stocks account for over 30% of A-share market value, with 45% of tech firms valued over 100 billion yuan.
