China's weather bureau launches 'Fenghe', a massive open-source AI weather model
China's weather bureau unveiled 'Fenghe', a massive open-source AI weather model, at a major AI conference. It's the first model of its kind with over 100 billion parameters, designed to help with global disaster prevention.
The model was trained on 50 million tokens of weather data and is already being used for weather analysis and risk assessment. It's available on platforms like GitHub and Hugging Face, so developers worldwide can use it in apps and other tools.
'Fenghe' is now part of a global early warning system and can answer questions in Chinese and English, helping people get weather alerts and risk analysis more easily.
