China Telecom's AI platform now manages over 100EFLOPS of computing power
China Telecom's self-developed AI platform, Xirang, now manages over 100EFLOPS of computing power, making it the country's largest AI data center provider. It has built over 900 data centers with nearly 8GW of power capacity and plans to expand its computing infrastructure ahead of demand.
At the 2026 World AI Conference, China Telecom's chairman Ke Ruiwen stated the company will boost domestic computing chips, deploy edge computing pools in key cities, and build a new backbone optical network supporting 800G transmission. It will also expand gigabit fiber and 5G-A networks.
The company is exploring ultra-large capacity and all-optical networking to support large-scale AI training and inference. It will also invest more in submarine cables to provide secure and reliable networks for international AI cooperation.
