Chinese AI models dominate global usage, top 4 spots all from China

According to OpenRouter data, global AI model usage hit 36.1 trillion tokens last week, up for seven weeks straight. Chinese AI models reached 14.19 trillion tokens, a 27.49% increase, beating the US for six weeks. The US had 3.2 trillion tokens, down 24.53%.

The top four models globally are all Chinese. DeepSeek-V4-Flash leads for the third week with 3.69 trillion tokens. Tencent's Hy3 preview is second at 2.94 trillion tokens. Newcomer MiniMaxM3 hit third place in its first week with 2.5 trillion tokens, featuring advanced coding, 1M context, and multimodal capabilities. Xiaomi's MiMo-V2.5 is fourth at 2.19 trillion tokens, up 50%.

Claude models dropped out of the top five. DeepSeek's total reached 6.75 trillion tokens, surpassing Anthropic and Google for the fourth week as the top provider.
