Claude Code Adds Cloud-Based Automation Routines: Tasks Run Even Offline, Easing Developer Management
Anthropic recently launched the routines feature for Claude Code, a cloud-based automation service built on web infrastructure. Developers can package automated tasks with code repositories and connectors, set schedules or triggers, and tasks will run on time even if the Mac device is offline. Currently in research preview, this feature applies to scenarios like scheduled tasks, API workflows, and GitHub automation, solving the pain points of manual cron job management and infrastructure setup.
Subscription limits: Pro users can run 5 routines daily, Max users 15, and Team/Enterprise users 25. Additionally, Anthropic updated the Claude Code Mac client with parallel sessions (managing multiple sessions in one window), integrated terminal, file editor, preview tools, and a drag-and-drop interface for developers to customize their workspace.
