Claude Code Desktop Adds /resume to Seamlessly Continue Terminal Sessions
Anthropic recently added a /resume command to Claude Code's desktop app, letting users pick up terminal sessions right on the desktop. All the chat history, code snippets, and context move along, so no more starting over when switching devices.
Lydia Hallie, an engineer on the team, showed off her own stats—1,240 sessions and 162.4 million tokens—in a demo. Before, terminal and desktop kept separate histories, making it a pain to switch. Now, with /resume, the two are connected.
The team is also considering a more direct integration later, like showing terminal sessions in the sidebar. This month, they added auto-resume for tasks when credits run out and fixed bugs with disappearing titles and auto-deletion of old sessions. Right now, only sessions started in the terminal can be resumed on desktop; support for desktop-created sessions is still in the works.
