Claude Code Team Shares Internal Skill Practices: Hundreds in Active Use, Categorized into 9 Types
Thariq, a member of Anthropic's programming tool Claude Code team, recently shared the company's internal experience using Skills. Skills are the most commonly used extension mechanism for Claude Code, with hundreds of active Skills internally, categorized into 9 types including library and API references, product validation, data acquisition and analysis, and business process automation.
Additionally, the team emphasized key practices: Skills are not just markdown but complete folders containing scripts, assets, and data; the most valuable part is the Gotchas section recording common pitfalls; the description field of a Skill is a trigger condition for models rather than a human summary; cross-session memory can be achieved by storing historical logs.
