Claude Desktop eats 1.8GB RAM on Windows
NeoWin reports that Anthropic's Claude Desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 has a memory issue. Once you use Claude Cowork or Agent mode, the app starts a Hyper-V virtual machine that takes up 1.8GB of RAM. Even if you just use chat mode afterward, every time you start Claude Code, it creates that 1.8GB process again. Users have been complaining about this on GitHub since February, but it's still not fixed, and some people have uninstalled the app. In Task Manager, it shows as Vmmem with 0% CPU but 1.8GB memory. Users think this process should only start when you explicitly use Agent mode and should clean up after. The issue doesn't affect CLI or other platforms.
