Claude Desktop Starts 2x Faster, CLI Uses Half CPU

Anthropic has improved the performance of Claude Desktop and Claude Code CLI. According to developer community reports, Claude Desktop now starts in the background about 2 times faster than a month ago in 95% of cases. The company says timers and the JS engine were previously limited in the background, but now it can start at full speed even when hidden.

Also, Claude Code CLI now uses about half the CPU in 99% of cases. This is mainly due to changes in how Bun's garbage collection works, running when the process is idle instead of during busy times. These improvements make a big difference for developers who use AI coding tools frequently.
