Claude Fable 5 subscription changes: Max and Team Premium users get 50% usage limit

Anthropic announced that starting July 20, Claude Fable 5 will be available to Max and Team Premium subscribers, but with a 50% usage limit. Pro and Team Standard users can access it through usage credits and will receive $100 in credits.

Claude Fable 5, launched in June 2026, is Anthropic's most powerful consumer model, excelling in software engineering and scientific research. Due to high demand, Anthropic plans to gradually roll it out to more subscription plans based on server load.

User feedback on the announcement is mixed. Some complain about the 50% limit, while others note that Kimi K3 at $39/month offers better value. Earlier, Anthropic had planned to remove Fable 5 from subscriptions and switch to usage-based billing, but this new approach is a phased rollout strategy.
