Claude Implements Session Limit Adjustments During Peak Hours: ~7% Users Affected, Pro Subscribers Hit Hardest

Anthropic announced adjustments to the session limit allocation for Claude's free, Pro, and Max subscription tiers during peak hours. Users' weekly total limits remain unchanged, but during weekday Pacific Time 5 AM to 11 AM (corresponding to Beijing Time 8 PM to 2 AM next day), the 5-hour session quota will be consumed faster.

Anthropic engineer Thariq Shihipar stated that although the team has offset some impacts through efficiency optimizations, about 7% of users will still hit session limits they previously didn't encounter, with Pro subscribers being more affected. He advised users running high-token background tasks to shift them to off-peak hours to extend available quotas, and mentioned the team will continue investing in capacity expansion.
