DeepSeek API Adds Web Search and Fetch, Priced at 5 Yuan per 1,000 Requests

DeepSeek announced that its API now supports web search and fetching, billed per request at 5 yuan for every 1,000 successful requests. Users calling the API in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, or Codex can already reach the Search and Fetch tools through the server side.

The company said these calls are free for now, and billing will begin at 0:00 on November 1, 2026, Beijing time. Both features are powered by DeepSeek's own search engine, providing real-time web content for Agent and RAG apps.

The Search tool looks up web pages with a keyword and returns structured results. The Fetch tool grabs a single page and returns its title and body in Markdown text. Both are JSON APIs and use the same sign-in method as the DeepSeek API.
