DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng was top scorer in college exam, loved science
As talk about the 2026 college entrance exam heats up online, people are digging up stories about famous figures. DeepSeek founder Liang Wenfeng scored 806 out of a possible total in 2002, becoming the top scorer in Zhanjiang, Guangdong. Photos of his award ceremony and newspaper reports are now circulating.
The reports say Liang wasn't a top student in middle school but loved science subjects like physics and math. He also enjoyed soccer, table tennis, and chess, and started using computers in middle school. His score was high enough for Tsinghua University, but he chose Zhejiang University's Electronic Information Engineering program instead, which was his dream major.
