DeepSeek Outage Lasts Nearly 5 Hours, API Users Get Full Refund
DeepSeek's web and API services went down in the morning. Users saw a "server temporarily unavailable" message when trying to chat. The topic quickly trended on Weibo, drawing wide attention. DeepSeek's official open platform later announced that a system failure hit from 8:11 to 13:04 Beijing time, making API services unusable during that period. After nearly 5 hours of repair, services are back to normal. The company apologized for the trouble. DeepSeek said it has launched a full check and fix on service stability, removing single points of failure to stop similar issues from happening again. As compensation, all API spending from October 8 to 14 will be fully returned as credit. The credit will arrive automatically and be used first for API billing.
