Doubao AI Agent feature to shut down in July 2026

ByteDance's AI assistant Doubao announced that its AI Agent feature will be removed on July 15, 2026. This feature let users create custom AI characters with specific identities, tones, and expertise, each with its own conversation memory.

After the shutdown, users can still view and save their agent info and chat history until October 15, 2026. After that, Doubao will delete the data per its privacy policy. Users are advised to back up important content via screenshots or text exports.

Doubao suggests moving to ByteDance's Catbox app, which supports creating new agents and continuing conversations.
