Doubao launches task mode, AI assistant shifts from chat to autonomous execution
ByteDance's AI app Doubao has officially launched a 'task mode', now widely available. Users can choose between 'Quick, Expert, Task' modes at the top of the app, signaling a structural shift in the product's functionality.
The task mode acts as an agent, unlike traditional AI chat. It can autonomously break down tasks, plan steps, call tools, and deliver final results. It supports zero-code webpage generation, one-click PPT creation, and data visualization. Users can also set scheduled tasks for automatic execution.
The expert mode uses ByteDance's latest Doubao model 2.0 Pro with native agent architecture, suitable for complex tasks like math reasoning, long text processing, and legal document logic checks. The quick mode is for simple Q&A and instant info, with the fastest response.
Basic features like daily Q&A and simple writing remain free. Paid plans target professional scenarios like PPT generation and data analysis: standard plan at 68 yuan/month, enhanced at 200 yuan/month, and pro at 500 yuan/month.
