Douyin E-commerce launches portrait protection to fight AI fakes

Douyin E-commerce has launched a 'portrait protection' feature to help live-streamers prevent AI impersonation and content theft. Some top creators are already using it.

Creators can submit their name and portrait info for protection. The system uses AI to detect and block fake content, including AI-generated lookalikes. By June 2026, the platform had handled over 12,000 fake accounts.

So far, the feature has protected more than 180 top creators and blocked 92,000 fake accounts. Previously, most fakes were caught manually. Now, the new system aims to make protection faster and more efficient.
