Fortune Magazine Points Out: Current AI Usage Costs More Than Hiring Human Employees
Although the U.S. tech industry has recently seen a boom in AI transformation, Fortune Magazine points out a paradox: currently, using artificial intelligence costs more than hiring human employees.
Nvidia's deep learning vice president says AI computing power costs for his team far exceed staff costs; a 2024 MIT study shows 77% of visual jobs are cheaper with humans, and AI has reliability issues (e.g., destroying an engineer's database).
Despite this, global AI investment this year has reached $740 billion (up 69% year-on-year). Experts predict that the inference cost of large language models may drop by 90% in the next four years, and AI prices are expected to fall as infrastructure improves.
