Gemini smart home camera keeps mistaking kangaroos for people in Australia
An Australian user reported that Gemini for Home keeps making recognition errors in camera feeds, mistaking cats for raccoons and classifying kangaroos and wallabies as "people." The issue persists even after enabling personalization and setting the location to Australia.
Beyond animals, Gemini also mislabels local vehicles like "ute" (utility vehicle) as regular trucks. The user noted that while the identification isn't entirely wrong in a broad sense, it lacks localization by not using terms familiar to local residents.
