Gmail may add a Gemini agent to auto-draft email replies
Android Authority tore down the latest Gmail app (v2026.09.28) and found code hints that Google may be adding a Gemini agent to Gmail, letting AI handle email replies automatically.
According to hidden notes, once the feature goes live, the AI inbox may show a "Use Gemini" button next to to-dos. After tapping it, Gemini can scan the inbox, and a "Draft reply" option may pop up when there are emails waiting for responses.
When Gemini is unsure what to do next, it will ask users for help, and some emails still need manual confirmation before sending. Strings show these tasks are marked "Needs your input," and users can tap a "Provide input" button to give Gemini the details it needs, balancing automation with human control.
