Google CEO confirms Gemini 4 is in training, expected by year-end

Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed during the Q2 2026 earnings call that the next-gen AI model, Gemini 4, is currently in training with significant resources invested. While Gemini 3.5 Pro wasn't released as planned in June, Pichai expressed excitement about Gemini 4's progress and believes users will be satisfied. Pichai admitted that Gemini still lags in areas like coding and agents, and the team is closely focused on these. He said the frontier model space is dynamic and rapidly evolving, hoping Gemini 4 will catch up to cutting-edge levels upon release. Tech media predicts Gemini 4 could launch in November or December this year.
