Google delays Gemini 3.5 Pro launch to July
Google's next-generation AI model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, is now set to launch in July instead of June. The company pushed back the release to gather more feedback from early testers and make improvements.
First previewed at Google's I/O event in May, the model wasn't fully ready then. CEO Sundar Pichai initially said it would arrive the following month. Insiders say the delay is about learning from real business use cases. Some users can already try it via Google's Antigravity platform and AI review site LMArena.
The new Gemini 3.5 Pro is expected to boost performance in long-text tasks and powering AI agents. Google has incorporated feedback from its recent Flash 3.5 model, including fixing issues with fast token consumption. With AI labs racing ahead, Google faces pressure—Anthropic and OpenAI still lead in code generation, even though last year's Gemini 3 performed well.
