Google Develops Native Gemini AI App for Mac, Competing with ChatGPT and Claude

Google is developing a native Gemini AI app for Apple Mac, currently in internal testing, aiming to compete with ChatGPT and Claude desktop apps.

The app supports drag-and-drop file uploads and can access local Mac app permissions. In the future, it may cross-app retrieve calendars, reminders, and album photos to provide deep system-level personal AI assistant services.

This progress stems from the AI cooperation agreement between Apple and Google. Previously, Google was slow to adapt to Apple's new system APIs, but the trend has changed significantly after the collaboration.
