Google Gemini Adds Chat History Import Feature to Attract ChatGPT and Claude Users
Google recently launched a new tool for its Gemini AI assistant, allowing users to upload chat history and context from other AI apps to attract users from OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude. Both free and paid users can upload compressed conversation files, reducing cross-platform migration costs.
This feature builds a data migration channel to break data silos between AI apps, but privacy concerns about uploaded files have been raised. Google combines this with its low-cost model Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite to form a combination of lowering usage prices and migration thresholds, accelerating the expansion of its AI ecosystem.
