Google Gemini Integrates C2PA Content Credentials to Help Identify AI-Edited Content
At the 2026 Google I/O Developer Conference, Google announced that its Gemini model has integrated C2PA content credentials to better combat deepfake content.
Currently, Google's SynthID technology has added watermarks to 1 billion images, videos, and 60,000 years of audio, with millions of users on the Gemini platform using this feature.
With the new C2PA integration in Gemini, users can circle an image in Google Search to check if it's AI-generated, or right-click in Chrome browser to see if an image has been AI-edited.
Sundar demonstrated a fake AI-generated image of himself with Musk and others at the conference, and Gemini accurately identified it as AI-generated.
