Google Launches Gemini for Science Model to Aid Drug Discovery and Complex System Simulation

At the 2026 Google I/O Developer Conference, Google launched Gemini for Science, a research-specific Gemini model. This model can track the latest academic papers, convert research goals into usable code, and generate new research hypotheses, providing efficient tool support for researchers.

Google also mentioned the development direction of simulation AI, which will be able to simulate more complex systems, even virtual cells, in the future. Additionally, Google has multiple pre-clinical projects targeting immune diseases and cancer, aiming to reimagine the drug discovery process and drive innovation in medical research.
