Google Opens SynthID AI Content Detector to Users Worldwide
As AI-generated content spreads, telling what is real has become a daily need for many people. Google has opened its SynthID website to users around the world, where they can check if images, videos, or audio were made by AI.
SynthID is an invisible watermark technology that Google launched in 2023. It is built into content made by models like Nano Banana, Veo, and Lyria, and tools from OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Kakao also support it. Google has added SynthID checks to the Gemini app and the Chrome browser.
Google says users now send about 1 million verification requests every day. The company also notes the results are not 100% accurate, so people should use other clues when judging where content comes from.
