Google's Internal AI Programming Agent Smith Limited Due to Surge in Usage
Google's internal AI programming agent named Agent Smith has recently been restricted due to a surge in usage. Inspired by the villain Agent Smith from 'The Matrix', this tool can automatically complete various tasks including programming.
Agent Smith is built on Google's Antigravity agent programming platform. It can independently plan and execute full workflows, support asynchronous operation, and allow employees to check progress or issue commands via mobile phones. It also automatically retrieves relevant documents.
Google co-founder Sergey Brin once stated that AI agents are a key direction this year. The company is promoting Project EAT to improve AI tool adoption, and some employees' AI usage will be included in performance reviews.
