Google Tests Weekly Quota for Free Gemini Users; High-Frequency Users May Be Affected

For frequent users of the free version of Gemini, the usage rules may be changing. Google is testing a new restriction mechanism, switching from the previous short-cycle reset model to weekly quota management.

Previously, free Gemini users could continue chatting after waiting for a while once they hit the usage limit. Under the new rules, the usage page will show the weekly quota for free users and display the used proportion as a percentage.

Currently, this weekly limit system is only available to a small number of users, and Google has not announced a timeline for full rollout. If officially implemented later, high-frequency users may run out of quota faster than before.
