Google Upgrades Workspace to Voice Collaboration Assistant, Launches Google Pics Image Editing Tool
At the 2026 Google I/O Developer Conference, Google upgraded Workspace, turning tools like Gmail, Docs, and Keep into voice-conversational collaboration assistants. New features include Gmail Live (natural voice search for emails), Docs Live (dictate drafts and supplement materials), and Keep's automatic organization of ideas into lists, making office workflows more reliant on voice interaction.
Additionally, Google launched the independent app Google Pics, which uses the Nano Banana model for precise local editing. Users can split image elements to modify colors, translate text while preserving font styles, and link with Slides and Drive to improve image processing efficiency.
