Guangdong's college entrance exam won't use AI for grading, just for monitoring

As the 2026 college entrance exam approaches, a rumor spread online saying Guangdong province would use AI to grade exams. The Guangdong Education Examination Authority denied this, clarifying AI is only used for real-time monitoring of exam irregularities since 2024. The system tracks 12 types of behavior like passing suspicious items or inattentive invigilators, alerting officials if needed.

Meanwhile, major AI platforms have confirmed they will temporarily block exam-related features like photo-solving and question-answering during exam hours. Daily functions like chat and lifestyle queries remain unaffected. Some homework apps also limited their tutoring features to ensure fairness.
