Honor's humanoid robot races human runners
Honor's homegrown humanoid robot Lightning has completed its first offline appearance with human runners. Marathon runner Sebastian Savje and Chinese trail runner Zhao Jiaju, Honor's Chief Running Officer and Extreme Explorer, raced side by side with the robot.
Savje is the first athlete ever to finish a marathon in under two hours. Zhao Jiaju is the first Chinese Asian champion of the 330km Tor des Geants race in Italy. In April, Lightning won the Beijing Yizhuang humanoid robot half marathon in 50 minutes and 26 seconds.
Lightning stands 169cm tall, model HONOR Robotics D1, and can sense and navigate on its own. Before the World Humanoid Robot Games, its legs were lengthened from 0.95 to 1.05 meters with a lighter frame.
For the 100-meter dash, it relies on a hip-mounted camera for vision, while a head radar helps plan routes for the 400-meter race. It uses liquid cooling, and its 132 metal parts come from Lens Technology.
