Huawei's Ascend 950 SuperPoD wins top AI award at WAIC 2026
Huawei's Ascend 950 SuperPoD (Atlas 950 SuperPoD) has won the top honor, the SAIL Award, at the 2026 World AI Conference (WAIC). It's the first time a Chinese company's large-scale AI computing platform gets this prize. The SAIL Award is known as a key indicator in the AI field, recognizing projects that truly help people.
The system uses Lingqu interconnect tech, supports 1024 cards, and delivers 1 EFLOPS FP8 computing power with 256TB of unified memory. Its NPU links have TB-level bandwidth and just 3 microseconds delay. At the conference, the actual machine was shown for the first time, proving its strength for large AI training.
Huawei says the Ascend 384 SuperPoD has already been used in over 750 commercial setups. This new award for the 950 model boosts its position as a key player in global AI infrastructure, offering essential computing power for big models and smart apps.
