iFLYTEK's Liu Qingfeng: AI Learning Companions Should Not Only Answer Questions But Also Provide Step-by-Step Grading and Error Analysis
During the 2026 National Two Sessions, Liu Qingfeng, chairman of iFLYTEK, stated in an interview that educational AI learning companions should not only answer questions but also have the ability to grade homework, exams, and classroom performance.
He emphasized that grading ability is often more critical than answering questions. AI should provide step-by-step grading, accurately identify where students made mistakes and analyze the reasons, then recommend personalized learning content. Additionally, educational AI needs to focus on students' learning interest and mental health, not just provide answers.
Liu Qingfeng noted that simply applying generic large models to develop teaching apps is far from sufficient. Chinese educational AI must be evaluated by professional institutions like the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences before parents can use it with confidence.
