Intel and Broadcom CEOs warn funding may become AI's biggest bottleneck
The AI industry is pouring huge money into data centers, advanced chips, and power infrastructure to meet growing computing demand. But two top chip executives now warn that money itself could become the biggest bottleneck for AI development.
According to CNBC, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said financing is more likely to hold back AI expansion than chips, memory, or power, as the whole industry races to build infrastructure. Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan shares the concern, noting that AI costs keep rising and it's still unclear whether huge investments will pay off.
Despite the funding worries, both executives see strong short-term demand. Hock Tan said demand for computing infrastructure exceeds supply, and the gap could last until 2029 or even 2030. Lip-Bu Tan added the industry is unlikely to slow down much in the next two to three years, as AI adoption keeps pushing growth.
