Isomorphic Labs President Says AI Will Design All Future Drugs

Max Jaderberg, president of AI drug company Isomorphic Labs, said at the Bloomberg Tech Summit in London, UK, that all future drugs will be designed by AI. The only question is how long it will take. He has no doubt about this goal, but doesn't want people to just wait 20 or even 50 years. He also noted that drug discovery has long relied on trial and error, and humans aren't actually good at making drugs. The company was spun off from Google DeepMind in 2021 and has raised about $2.7 billion so far. It is now in talks for a new funding round that could value it at $40 billion or more. CEO Demis Hassabis said the first clinical trials are planned to start by the end of this year. The company is still in pre-clinical trials. Its own drugs mainly target cancer, immune diseases and inflammation. It also provides drug discovery tech to pharma companies like Eli Lilly and Novartis.
