Japanese right-wing groups use AI to create fake historical videos
Recently, Japan's Asahi Shimbun revealed that Japanese right-wing groups are using platforms like CrowdWorks to hire people to create fake videos with AI, claiming things like 'the Nanjing Massacre is a lie.' This has drawn strong criticism worldwide.
The investigation found that clients provide detailed guides, and workers can make a fake video in minutes with simple AI commands. A 30-second fake video costs 5,000 yen, and negative content about China earns 1,000 yen per 1,000 views—three times more than normal videos. This encourages mass production of false history.
Japan's foreign ministry has spent over 56 billion yen since 2015 on 'overseas strategic information' campaigns targeting China. Chinese security officials warn these fakes could mislead young people's understanding of history and corrupt AI training data, so strict measures are needed.
