Johnson & Johnson: AI Cuts Lead Compound Screening Time in Drug R&D by Half
Johnson & Johnson's CIO stated that the company is using artificial intelligence to cut the screening time of lead compounds in new drug research and development by half. While AI can't directly develop new drugs and bring them to market yet, it optimizes processes—two compounds in oncology and immunology have accelerated development.
In addition, AI is integrated into medical devices to assist surgeons, improving the precision of arrhythmia correction and joint replacement surgeries. In production, it precisely controls the timing and temperature of solvent addition. The time to write clinical trial reports has been reduced from 700 hours to 15 minutes. AI does not replace employees but becomes an essential additional skill.
