K-Dense Open-Source AI Research Assistant: 170+ Scientific Skills, 250+ Databases, Local Run with Own API Key
AI research platform K-Dense recently open-sourced the BYOK version of its research assistant, with Kady as the core AI Agent. It can automatically decide to answer directly or dispatch domain-specific AI experts based on user queries, targeting scientists, analysts and others needing deep research capabilities.
Kady has over 170 built-in scientific skills covering bioinformatics, genomics, materials science and more, with access to 250+ scientific databases and 500,000 Python packages. Users can connect to 40+ AI models (like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) via OpenRouter using their own API keys, with all data and files staying in local sandboxes. Code execution for expert tasks is done via Gemini CLI, and users can optionally connect to Modal cloud computing platform for high-performance tasks.
In addition, K-Dense offers a hosted version K-Dense Web for professional and academic teams, eliminating the need for self-deployment.
