Kimi K3 model designs its own chip in 48 hours
In a technical blog post, Moonshot AI showed how its Kimi K3 model designed a custom chip. As a proof of concept, K3 built, optimized, and verified a chip for its nano model in 48 hours without human help. The chip uses open-source EDA tools and a 45nm library, with 1.46 million standard cells, 0.277MB SRAM, and an INT4 MAC array. It's only 4 mm², runs at 100 MHz, and achieves over 8700 tokens per second in simulation. This shows K3's ability to plan ahead and act like an intelligent agent, marking a big step for AI in chip design.
