Kimi Teases K3.1 Model in New Video
Kimi's official account just posted a 24-second teaser video. It shows an old computer running Kimi Code, with "Kimi K3.1" listed as the model. It looks like the new model is almost ready.
Back in September, developers found a "kimi-k3-1" tag on Moonshot AI's API platform, with support for 1 million tokens of context. A K3.1 code update later showed up in SGLang, and the model may already be sitting on Hugging Face.
K3.1 adds a new "medium" thinking level on top of K3's low, high and max modes. The tokenizer stays the same, and the tests focus on chat and tool-call compatibility. There are also clues about 3D content tools and multi-agent features.
K3 is already used in GitHub Copilot and Amazon's coding tool Kiro. Kimi was the first open-source model to share revenue on AWS Bedrock. The release date and pricing for K3.1 are still unknown.
